I want to rent a trailer but how do I know how much my vehicle can tow?
Check your tow vehicles owner’s manual or vehicle dealer for towing capacity. When using max towing capacity to determine which RVs your vehicle can safely tow, remember that passenger weight, optional equipment, and additional cargo needs to be added into the equation. Do not exceed your vehicle’s towing capacity because doing so can affect your vehicle’s stopping ability, handling, or possibly even damage the drive-train. Dry weight is the weight of the RV without any liquids, passengers, or cargo. Manufacturers weigh new units before shipping them and record that weight as the Dry Weight. It is similar to Curb Weight for automobiles. Gross weight is the combined weight of the RV (dry weight), plus liquids, passengers, and cargo. Tongue weight is the weight placed on the hitch when the trailer is coupled to your vehicle. The tongue weight should be 10-15% of the RV’s gross vehicle weight. Hitches must be rated high enough to tow the trailer (class 3 hitch or higher for travel trailers). Look in your owner’s manual some hitches are rated higher than what the vehicle can tow. Your tow vehicle must be equipped with a round 7 way RV connector and electric brake control (brake control required by law on trailers registered over 3,000 pounds). Pop-ups only require a flat 4 electrical connection and do not require electric brakes, but are still recommended. We do sell and install hitches, electrical connectors, and brake controls at an additional cost and must be scheduled in advance. We do sell and rent the ball mounts with ball or ball if needed. A friction sway control is recommended on all trailers (additional rental cost of $27.65 minimum). A weight distribution ball mount assembly & friction sway control is recommended on larger trailers (based on your towing vehicle, at an additional rental cost, $41.65 minimum).
Are we allowed to travel into Canada?
Yes, you may enter Canada.
Are we allowed to travel into Mexico?
No, you are not allowed to travel into Mexico.
Is it possible to travel in the winter in the colder areas?
Yes, however, our trailers are “winterized” from approximately mid-October to late March. This means we have completely drained the water and holding tanks. This will prevent the tanks and pipes from freezing and bursting. If you chose to have your rental trailer “de-winterized” (so that you can use your sink, shower, and toilet) it will cost $80. You will need to exercise extreme care while traveling in a “de-winterized” trailer during frigid weather. You will need to run the heater at all times to protect the tanks and pipes from freeze damage, or in extreme cases you would need to put RV Anti-Freeze in the water and holding tanks (by doing so, you may not use any water systems). If the pipes or tanks were damaged from freezing, it is considered negligent damage and you will be responsible for the full cost of all repairs. If you have any more questions on the rental policies during winter, please contact us.
Are there any places we cannot take the RV?
Yes. Coverage is invalid if problems occur in restricted areas and all recovery expenses are at the renter’s own cost. Violations of these restrictions void damage waivers and the renter will be held liable for all vehicle damages including to tires, towing charges and other related expenses as a result of a breakdown associated with operating in these areas. Travel on all public and/or numbered roads is permitted. Be sure to be vigilant for low bridges, low hanging trees, and roads restricting larger vehicles. Travel on non-public roads, unpaved back roads, trails and the like commonly called logging roads or on any surface subjecting the vehicle to unreasonable damage or road hazard is prohibited. Due to restrictions on vehicle heights, propane gas, and parking, vehicles with propane are not permitted in Manhattan and are not permitted to travel through any underground or underwater tunnels. We reserve the right to restrict travel.
Is it safe to drink the water from the RV tank?
No, we do not recommend this. It is difficult to know if the water is potable when you fill the tank at a variety of locations. We recommend you use bottled water for drinking and cooking. The water from the tank is fine for washing and bathing. Trailers typically come with an empty tank of fresh water to make them lighter for towing. Trailers can be filled with water before departure at renter’s request.
What if the RV breaks down or there is an issue with it?
We have an emergency contact number to assist travelers to help get them back on the road as soon as possible, or help with an issue incurred.

How can I learn to operate the components on the RV?

What happens if the RV I reserved is unavailable?
