An electric brake control is optional equipment on some vehicles equipped with a factory tow package. A factory brake control would have a button on the dash with a + & - as well as a squeezable switch. An after market brake control is usually mounted on the bottom of the dash and can be easily reached by the driver.
An electric brake control is REQUIRED for all travel trailers.
An electric brake control is not required for pop-ups. Check your tow vehicles owner’s manual or vehicle dealer to see if you need a brake control to pull the weight of the pop-up you would like to rent (contact us if you still need assistance). We do sell and install electric brake controls for your vehicle at an additional cost.
We will try our best to work with you to get the issue resolved. We have an emergency contact number if it is outside of our normal business hours. We also offer an optional emergency roadside assistance through our insurance company, MBA Insurance. You will need to sign up for this at least 48 hours prior to your pick up date for it to take affect for your rental. More information on this service: https://mbainsurance.net/roadside/
A campground is designated area, park, or resort where you can park the RV for the night. We always recommend staying at a campground with hook-ups, especially if it is your first time. Full hook-up (electric, water, & sewer) are always recommended for those RV camping for the first time. A partial list of commonly found facilities would include: electric, water, sewer hook-ups, cable TV, Wi-Fi, washer, dryer, swimming pool, playground, BBQ pits, and on-site convenience store. Campground rates vary based on time of year and what facilities they offer. For an RV travel & campground guide for all of North America: https://www.goodsam.com/campgrounds-rv-parks
Yes; you may enter Canada.
No; Please plan to bring your own crib.
Yes, however, our motor homes are “winterized” from approximately mid-October to late March. This means we have completely drained the water and holding tanks. This will prevent the tanks and pipes from freezing and bursting. If you chose to have your rental motor home “de-winterized” (so that you can use your sink, shower, and toilet) it will cost $185. You will need to exercise extreme care while traveling in a “de-winterized” motor home during frigid weather. You will need to run the heater at all times to protect the tanks and pipes from freeze damage, or in extreme cases you would need to put RV Anti-Freeze in the water and holding tanks (by doing so, you may not use any water systems). If the pipes or tanks were damaged from freezing, it is considered negligent damage and you will be responsible for the full cost of all repairs. If you have any more questions on the rental policies during winter, please contact us.
Prices fluctuate based on season, RV, availability, and amount of time. Most cost effective way (cost per day) is to go a week (7 days) or more. Weeks run a weekday to a weekday like a Monday-Monday or Friday-Friday with an afternoon pick-up (1pm-4pm) and a morning return (10am). Shorter rentals are less expensive than a week, but are not pro-rated (the shorter the number of days rented, the higher the cost per day).
Similar to a hotel, the Rental Day is based on number of nights the vehicle is used. Each night constitutes a rental day, typically based on an afternoon departure and a morning return. Most cost effective way to go is by the week. Weeks run a week day to a week day like a Monday-Monday or Friday-Friday. You can go for longer or shorter periods of time but a week or more is the most cost effective. Minimum days sometimes do apply.
Yes; Delivery and pick-up are available at an additional cost. Trailers are $200 + $5 per mile + tolls. This is based on one way using Google maps quickest time. It would again be the same additional cost to pick it up after the rental.
Upon confirmation, we take approximately a 1/3 reservation deposit as down payment. This deposit will be applied toward your rental charges. Full payment is due 2 weeks prior to departure. A credit card imprint is taken at departure as a security deposit of $500 on trailers. Debit cards without a Visa or MasterCard logo are NOT accepted. Cards will not be charged until return unless otherwise agreed upon, all extra charges, if any, are balanced on the credit card imprint used for security deposit if not paid by due date on final invoice for extras.

Things that run on propane are the refrigerator (when not plugged in to electric), stove, water heater, & furnace. Customer agrees that they will return unit in the same condition as they received it (excluding normal wear). A minimum fee of $50 will be charged if the interior of the vehicle has not been cleaned. A minimum fee of $50 will be charged if the exterior of the vehicle has not been cleaned. Holding tanks must be emptied and reading empty on monitor panel prior to return of the vehicle or be subject to an additional dump charge of up to $40. You may bring a portable generator for the trailers or rent one from us (additional cost and limited quantity); however it is highly recommend you use a generator that has pure sine wave. Any other generator can damage the electrical components in the trailer. If damage occurs from your generator you will be responsible for all costs incurred. 2500-watt generator or bigger is recommend if you plan to use it for the air conditioner. Some generators may need to be a higher wattage to run the air conditioner.
We charge a per day or per trip basic collision and comprehensive coverage which carry a $500 deducible for trailers and pop-ups. Trailers come with no liability coverage and the tow vehicle’s liability MUST transfer to the towed trailer.
If your tow vehicle’s liability does not transfer to the towed trailer you will need to purchase Trailer Liability Insurance thought our Insurance company, MBA Insurance. For more information on this please see their website https://mbainsurance.net/choice/trailers/
The insurance company we use for the basic coverage also offers additional optional coverage for supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) which provides you supplemental liability insurance up to $1,000,000. Unless you carry $1,000,000 liability (umbrella policies do not qualify) that will list Mike Ziegler’s Motor Home Rental Inc. as an additional insured and loss payee, as well as cover physical damage of the rental unit, and include conversion coverage. Yes. Coverage is invalid if problems occur in restricted areas and all recovery expenses are at the renter’s own cost. I want to rent a trailer but how do I know how much my vehicle can tow?
Check your tow vehicles owner’s manual or vehicle dealer for towing capacity. When using max towing capacity to determine which RVs your vehicle can safely tow, remember that passenger weight, optional equipment, and additional cargo needs to be added into the equation. Do not exceed your vehicle’s towing capacity because doing so can affect your vehicle’s stopping ability, handling, or possibly even damage the drive-train. Dry weight is the weight of the RV without any liquids, passengers, or cargo. Manufacturers weigh new units before shipping them and record that weight as the Dry Weight. It is similar to Curb Weight for automobiles. Gross weight is the combined weight of the RV (dry weight), plus liquids, passengers, and cargo. Tongue weight is the weight placed on the hitch when the trailer is coupled to your vehicle. The tongue weight should be 10-15% of the RV’s gross vehicle weight. Hitches must be rated high enough to tow the trailer (class 3 hitch or higher for travel trailers). Look in your owner’s manual some hitches are rated higher than what the vehicle can tow. Your tow vehicle must be equipped with a round 7 way RV connector and electric brake control (brake control required by law on trailers registered over 3,000 pounds). Pop-ups only require a flat 4 electrical connection and do not require electric brakes, but are still recommended. We do sell and install hitches, electrical connectors, and brake controls at an additional cost and must be scheduled in advance. We do sell and rent the ball mounts with ball or ball if needed. A friction sway control is recommended on all travel trailers. A weight distribution ball mount assembly & friction sway control is recommended on larger trailers based on your towing vehicle. Ball mounts, friction sway control, & weight distribution ball mount assembly W/friction sway control are available to rent for an additional cost.
Check your tow vehicles owner’s manual or vehicle dealer for towing capacity (contact us if you still need assistance). Hitches must be rated high enough to tow the trailer. Some hitches are rated higher than what the vehicle can tow. Your tow vehicle must be equipped with a trailer electrical connector, a round 7 way RV connector or a 4 way flat connector. If you only have a 4 way flat connector we do have adapters, however, you will not be able to operate the electric brakes on the pop-up, and you will not have 12 volt auxiliary power to charge the battery (battery optional). We do sell and install hitches and electrical connectors at an additional cost.
No, All Trailers are NOT equipped with TVs, you can bring your own or we do rent TVs (some are TV/DVD) for an additional cost.
We will make every effort to provide the customer with the model requested. We reserve the right to substitute models of similar or higher grade. Should a model of lower grade be offered and accepted, liability will be limited to refund of price differential between models paid for and model taken.
No, we do not recommend this. It is difficult to know if the water is potable when you fill the tank at a variety of locations. We recommend you use bottled water for drinking and cooking. The water from the tank is fine for washing and bathing. Motor homes come with a full tank of fresh water. Trailers come with an empty tank of fresh water to make them lighter for towing. Trailers can be filled with water before departure at renter’s request.
